Big
haired Emma sang her hymn to peace in Zagreb with the major
help of big-voiced Miriam Stockley on backing vocals. Sadly
this contest was full of similar stuff and Emma lost out.
Samantha
took to the Roman stage dressed like a hooker to sing a song
about global starvation. Go figure. After a dire result it
was quite clear that her future lay in acting.
Mr
Ball claimed that he'd rather have pins stuck in his eyes
than do Eurovision again. Nice. This marked the BBC 's
return to a "one artist, multiple songs final"
after 16 years of all-comers.
The
Scouse diva topped the UK charts in 1989 and
then came up with eight very good Song For Europe songs in '93. A
nail-biting 2nd place (yet again)! Still supports the
contest, unlike some.

The
last attempt to get one artist to sing all the songs and a
very downbeat set of songs for the Les Miserables star.
Frances released a number of singles in this
period.
This
was the first year of Jonathan King's involvement in
choosing the UK song and we got a well promoted final with 2
songs making the UK top 10, Deuce and these guys.
Woah!
UK number 1, US top 20 single and Aussie Gina's song
still was only 8th place in Oslo. A sad commentary on
Eurovision in the mid 90s. Ms G had more hits and is on a
comeback!
Well
we know Katrina for "Walking On Sunshine", but
this American in the UK needed another hit, and along comes
"Love Shine A Light", the highest scoring song for
a straight final.
