Rock Bottom - Lynsey
de Paul & Mike Moran
|
| Just
months before conquering America, Olivia was doing a cheesy
Euro number in a blue nightie in Brighton. A high quality
year when the top 3 all made the UK top 10. |
|
Cliff's
old backing band traveled to Stockholm and finished a close
second, despite Bruce Welch fluffing his lines at the start
of the song. Soon after, John Farrar left to produce Olivia. |
|
After
pipping Coco to victory in Song For Europe, the BOM conquered Europe and
went on to more success with "Angelo" & "Figaro".
30 years later they are still performing with the same
line-up. |
|
Mike
Moran was primarily a composer and record producer who has
had a long career post ESC. Ms
De Paul had many pop hits in the early 70s, latterly she too
was a successful songwriter. |

recovered from their 1976 disappointment to sing for the UK
in 1978 but proceeded to land the worst UK result to date in
Paris (11th). Featured a young Cheryl Baker. |

Black
Lace went ballistic in the 80s with party anthems like
"Agadoo" & "Superman" but haw many
know that their first stab at stardom was "Mary
Ann" in the 1979 contest?. |
|
Prima
Donna were the ultimate Euro group. Interesting though
because Kate Robbins went on to have chart success and
Sally-Ann Triplett went on to further glory on the
stage |

A
cheesy song and some skirt-stripping brought the 4th UK
victory. Much chart success followed with arguably better
songs. Jay Aston left the group after some acrimony |
